NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nv -- The North Las Vegas City Council voted 4 to 1 Wednesday night to accept the resignation of City Manager, Gregory Rose. The Mayor was the sole vote against the procedure. Although Rose's removal was referred to as a resignation, it was a firing.

Rose came under fire after an 8 News Now I-Team investigation of alleged misuse of taxpayer money earmarked for the hiring of new police officers.

In addition, the council voted to appoint Maryann Ustick as the Acting City Manager for an indefinite time.

Rose is expected to receive a severance.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nv. -- There was heavy security in the courtroom as the six suspects accused of shooting and killing Metro Officer Trevor Nettleton appeared in North Las Vegas court Wednesday morning.

North Las Vegas detention officers were positioned at every door to the courtroom and about 30 Metro police officers were in the court as the six suspects appeared for a felony arraignment.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 17th at 9:30 a.m.

Officer Nettleton was shot and killed in his home on Nov. 19th. Police say the suspects were attempting to rob Nettleton.

LAS VEGAS, Nv -- The sixth person charged in the murder of Metro Officer Trevor Nettleton had his bail set at a $500,000.

Twenty-five-year-old Michael Ferguson appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court Monday. He faces charges of accessory to commit murder. Police believe he helped destroy evidence following the attempted robbery and shooting that left Officer Nettleton dead. Ferguson was already behind bars after being arrested for two separate outstanding warrants. Investigators say there could be more arrests coming.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nv. -- The lights are on at the controversial Clark County Shooting Park in North Las Vegas. It's the next step, as the facility gets closer to opening.

For years, some neighbors have tried to stop the park from being built over worries of noise and traffic. It's only really a matter of time before the gates officially open, and not everyone is happy about it.

Right now, county workers are testing the light system for the very first time. The facility still has some in nearby communities split.

'A lot of people out here do like to go out and shoot, so why not have a safe place to go out and controlled environment for them to go,' said Holly McKinney.

'Guns are always a bad thing. Cops can have them, but I don't see the need for the common citizen,' said Joe Matto.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nv -- Two more suspects in the murder of police officer Trevor Nettleton made their first court appearances Tuesday.

Murder suspect Quadrae Scott appeared in court via video conference this morning. He is charged with murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. He is not eligible for bail. Suspect Emmitt Ferguson who is charged with accessory to murder did get bail set at $500,000. Police say Ferguson was not with the group at the time of the murder but he helped hide the gun.

A total of five suspects have been arrested in the murder of police officer Nettleton. He was shot to death in the garage of his home on Nov. 19th. Police say the five suspects were attempting to rob Nettleton. The officer died of a gunshot wound to his torso.

Eighteen-year-old Prentice Marshall and 20-year-old Saul Williams were both charged with first degree murder with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The youngest suspect arrested, 17-year-old Adrian Pena, also made an appearance. Pena has been certified as an adult and is charged with first degree murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.

LAS VEGAS -- Murdered Las Vegas police officer Trevor Nettleton was stationed at the Bolden Area Command. Monday night, under an American flag flying at half staff, crowds gathered there to remember Metro's fallen and to denounce the bloodshed.

“This is an officer in a different color uniform. That doesn't matter. When things like this happen, we all come together,” said North Las Vegas Police Department Deputy Chief Victor Dunn.

Faith-based organizations also came together in a touching tribute to Officer Nettleton, ambushed Thursday in a botched robbery, and Corrections Officer Daniel Leach, killed in vehicle accident on Saturday.

“We hurt for him and his family and that's why we're here -- to support his family,” said Laurie Jimenez, member of the Living Faith Assembly.
